Product made with copper: Spotlight
Copper is a versatile mineral. It is known for its electrical and thermal conductivity, and is a key component in electrical engineering products, building materials and alloys. Major producers include Chile, Peru, the US and Australia. But the mining of copper is associated with environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity and unsafe working conditions. Research is currently underway to find sustainable alternatives and ways of recycling copper.
