Terms and conditions photo contest

1.1 The photo competition is organized by Wereldmuseum.

2.1 By submitting the photo(s), you are participating in the photo contest. The person submitting the photo(s) will hereinafter be referred to as “participant.”

2.2 Participation in the photo contest is free of charge.

2.3 Participants under the age of 16 declare that they have obtained permission from their parent(s) to participate in the photo contest.

2.4 By participating in the photo contest, the participant accepts the applicability of these general terms and conditions to the photo contest and thereby also agrees to the content of these general terms and conditions.

2.5 In the event of a violation of these general terms and conditions by the participant, Wereldmuseum has the right to exclude the participant from participation.

3.1 Each participant may submit a maximum of three photos.

3.2 Photos must be in .jpg or .png file format and have the highest possible resolution.

3.3 The photos must fall within the theme of the photo contest: “Global Citizenship.”

3.4 Entries must be received by August 12, 2025, at the latest via webteam@wereldmuseum.nl.

3.5 Entries may not contain obscene, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate content. The Wereldmuseum reserves the right to exclude such entries from participation.

4.1 By submitting their entry, participants guarantee that they are the copyright holders of the photo(s) they have submitted.

4.2 By participating, the participant grants Wereldmuseum the right to use the submitted photo(s) for purposes directly related to the photo contest, such as publication on the website, social media, and newsletters. In addition, the participant gives Wereldmuseum permission to contact them to ask whether the photo may be used for other promotional purposes.

4.3 The participant retains the copyright to the submitted photo(s).

4.4 Wereldmuseum is not liable for any infringement of copyright by the participant, nor for any infringement of the participant's copyright by third parties. The participant indemnifies Wereldmuseum against all claims from third parties who claim to be copyright holders and against other claims relating to any infringement of copyright by the participant.

5.1 The participant guarantees that written consent has been obtained from persons who are recognizable in the photo(s).

5.2 The participant guarantees that, in the case of minor children who are recognizable in the photo(s), written consent has been obtained from the parent(s) or guardian.

5.3 If a person depicted or their parent/guardian objects to the publication of the photo(s), Wereldmuseum reserves the right to remove the photo(s) and/or exclude the participant from participating in the photo competition.

5.4 Wereldmuseum is not liable for claims by persons portrayed due to any violations of portrait rights by the participant. The participant indemnifies Wereldmuseum against all claims by third parties relating to any violations of portrait rights by the participant.

6.1 An independent jury will assess the submitted photo(s) based on creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme and will select the winners of the photo contest from among the participants.

6.2 Winners will receive online publication on the Wereldmuseum's online channels and two (2) admission tickets to the Wereldmuseum of their choice.

6.3 The prize for winning the photo contest is personal and is in the name of the winner. The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash or other products or services. If the prize or the general terms and conditions associated with the photo contest are refused or not accepted, the prize will not be awarded. The prize will also not be awarded in the event of any violation of these general terms and conditions.

6.4 Winners will be announced on August 19, 2025, via the website and the Instagram and Facebook accounts of Wereldmuseum. In addition, the winners will be notified by email.

6.5 Winners can claim the prize up to one (1) month after the announcement of the win. After this period, the claim to the prize automatically expires.

7.1 By participating in the photo competition, the participant consents to the processing of their personal data by Wereldmuseum in the context of the competition.

7.2 Wereldmuseum may include the participant's personal data in its database, which will be treated confidentially and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

7.3 Personal data will be used by Wereldmuseum exclusively for the organization of the photo contest and will not be shared with third parties.

7.4 More information about the processing of personal data can be found in the privacy policy by Wereldmuseum.

8.1 Wereldmuseum is not liable for technical malfunctions that prevent or cause the loss of entries, or for other problems that may prevent participation in the photo competition.

8.2 Wereldmuseum is not liable for any damage resulting from the use of submitted photo(s) by third parties.

9.1 Wereldmuseum reserves the right to amend these general terms and conditions at any time or to terminate the photo competition prematurely if circumstances so require.

9.2 In cases not covered by these terms and conditions, Wereldmuseum will decide.

10.1 Dutch law applies exclusively to the photo contest and these general terms and conditions.
